History
Armonia chairs by Fast.

Fast was established in Valle Sabbia, Italy, in 1995 owing to the Levrangi family's desire to design and produce a new generation of outdoor furnishing solutions. Backed by over thirty years of experience, gained previously in the smelting of non-ferrous metals, the company immediately saw the need to identify a versatile material capable of breaking away the concept of outdoor furniture from the collective imagination of traditional chairs.

In 2017, the brand has decided to revolutionize the very concept of outdoor furniture: this has involved a partnership with Argentinian designer Alberto Lievore, from Studio "Lievore Altherr" in Barcelona. Together, they have created three new collections, Zebra, Moai and New-wood Plan, which embrace different materials such as aluminium, stone and wood. The news in terms of research is the new "wood effect" material, it is 100% recyclable and it consists of natural fibres. Thanks to this project, the outdoor living in every season of the year and the contract furnishing will be always more crucial for the future.

Technology
Forest chairs by Fast.

The R&D center and Fast’s designers are the engine for the proposal of innovative solutions and versatile materials. Their goal is to make aluminum, their strong point, work with other materials such as stone and wood. Recently, they’ve proposed a new "wood effect" material: 100% recyclable and made up of natural fibers.

The introduction, in 2013, of innovative technologies and later the transition to the organizational system of the Lean Production represent the added value with which Fast expresses its passion and its Made in Italy tradition. This project has improved the performance by increasing the flexibility through the optimization of the manufacturing process, through efficiency, quality and costs reduction and by focusing on customer needs.

A team of robots handles some manufacturing techniques with the outmost precision and efficiency. The die-casting process of the aluminum allows the mass production of complex articles, but with high quality and value. The painting is made up of polyester powders fixed with special treatments for greater protection and for resistance over time.

Episode XII: Zero Lighting
Elements Collection by Zero Lighitng.
Architectural-decorative lighting, with a twist.
Now available in Canada and the United States.
Background
Zero Lighting headquarters.
Swedish lighting manufacturer, Zero Lighting, bills itself as a company producing lighting for the contract market. CEO Per Gill describes their products as “architectural-decorative with a twist.” The company was founded in 1978 by Per’s father, Roland Gill, and Andris Nolendorfs, who tapped Börge Lindau as their first designer. Once they had both retired, Per and his brother Thomas took the reins of the company in 1997. By 2007, the duo had shifted their focus toward manufacturing more contemporary designs with a list of high-profile Swedish designers.
Manufacturing and Evolution
Zero Lighting Manufacturing.
In 1990, Zero Lighting's operations moved to premises in Pukeberg glassworks, which led to an interest in the possibilities of glass lighting fixtures. For a decade, a large part of the product range was made with this material.

Zero Lighting's collections grew and varied throughout the following years, as 2004 began a new era and a series of new collaborations with renowned designers of the younger generation.

The PXL collection consists of a table and pendant lamp. Designed by Fredrik Mattson, it has attracted a lot of attention and can truly be called eye candy. The designer's own words: "The traditional archetype of a lamp form is sliced up and transformed into rings. The result resembles a bit of a 3-D "low-resolution object" with its pixel and edgy character."
