Episode XXII: Lyon Beton

Water, sand, cement: These are the raw materials that excite, inspire, and challenge Lyon Beton to Break the rules, to go where nobody has dared yet.

Concrete Furniture - Lyon Beton

The history of Lyon Beton began seven years ago, when they were tapped to design a collection 100% made in concrete. This resulted in one-of-a-kind pieces, that were artisanal in approach and industrial in execution. This project was later dropped by the distributor, that is where Lyon Beton was born, with the initial need of selling the inventory for this project.

Lyon Beton - Office

From Lyon to Jacksonville to Oslo, today Lyon Beton sells their creations all over the world. Thanks to their ability to think outside the box, and by pushing the raw material to its limits, creating products that are both durable and contemporary. The team behind this brand is young and dynamic, with a clear vision on the future and sustainability.
At Lyon Béton, three designers are in charge of their creations: Bertrand Jayr, Henri Lavallard Boget, and Alexandre Dubreuil who are as enthusiastic about concrete as designers were about plastic in the 1950s.

Let's have a look

The Hauteville Collection
Hauteville Armchair - Lyon Beton

The HAUTEVILLE collection draws inspiration from iconic mid-century design with a modern twist. Constructed with a concrete shell and rebar legs, the concrete chair’s composition brings to light the unique qualities of industrial materials and repurposes the unpolished, raw materials to create a minimal and contemporary chair.

Hauteville Stool - Lyon Beton

Despite the use of unconventional materials, the chair has an incredibly ergonomic and comfortable seat. While ultra-fine sanding gives it a smooth finish. Versatile enough for practically any space, this minimalist design will leave an impression everywhere it goes.

The concrete and steel table ALPS is surprising in its design both brutalist and elegant. The geometry of the steel base plays with depth and perspective to trick our vision. Mix Coffe Table
Mix Coffee Table - Lyon Beton

The MIX table is a tribute to the material of which it is composed: concrete. The shape of the tray reminds the mixing tubs used by construction workers. The metaphor continues with the legs and plates that evoke transfer shovels of the digger.

Cloud - Lyon Beton
Trophy - Lyon Beton
Cloud
Trophy
The Concrete Cloud Toilet Paper Shelf, adds poetry, humour and singularity to rooms so often deprived of these qualities. This unique concrete shelf, with its curved, graphic and refined lines, is designed for toilet paper rolls which are deliberately displayed and no longer hidden. The concrete shelf gradually takes the shape of a cloud.

The Concrete Trophy Stem Vase brings a little bit of nature to your empty wall space without actually bringing nature home.
Adorn your wall with a prized animal head, molded with limited facial details, the trophy head takes on the silhouette of a stag, a ram, or any hoofed animal depending on whatever you decided to use to create antlers.

Nuclear Plant - Lyon Beton
Trophy - Lyon Beton
Nuclear Plant
Trophy
The Concrete Nuclear Plant Holder, is directly inspired by the cooling towers of the nuclear plants, the iconic figures of nuclear energy but with a lighthearted touch.
The Concrete Pipeline Stem Vase, is inspired by the urban city. It diverts the visible pipelines we see in the streets and creates a dialogue between the inside and the outside.
